Direct Debit Process

How Direct Debits Work in Spain

In Spain, most utility companies, like those for electricity and water, use direct debits to automatically withdraw payments from your bank account. When you sign up as a customer, you’ll authorize the company to charge your account for usage. Then, when it’s time to pay, the utility company’s bank will request the payment, and the amount will be deducted from your account.

If you open a Bueno account, please note that we don’t automatically update your payment details with the utility companies. You’ll need to contact each company, or we can assist you in making the switch. This guide will explain the switch process.

If you notice any payments you don't recognize or approve, you can request a refund. This ensures that only the payments you’ve agreed to will be processed.

In the case that your account balance is not sufficient to cover a payment, the transaction will fail. If that happens, we’ll send you an email letting you know which payment didn’t go through. Please note that you will need to contact the utility company directly to manually settle the bill, as Bueno is unable to manage this for you.
